Despite the heat, vendors John and Anna Hayes were pleased to see great support from new and return buyers to their third Annual Glenfinnan Prime Lamb Genetics White Suffolk Ram Lamb Sale on Friday February 10.

There were 91 Rams offered on the day with a 100 percent clearance selling under the hammer. Purchasers S and G Affleck, “Greenbraes” Wombat purchased Lot 12 securing the top priced and highly sought after ram for $1,600, with a sale overall average of $1110 throughout. Selling Agent Phill Butt of Butt Livestock and Property said The ram lambs presented in excellent condition.
“They were an outstanding even line up of rams with excellent carcass shape and depth of hindquarter supported by excellent ASBV’s,” he said.
Purchases were made by new and return buyers from Yass, Cootamundra, Newbridge, Grenfell, Bribbaree, Wallendbeen, and Binalong. Long-time clients Chris and Margot Shannon, Talmo Pastoral Co, Bookham secured 15 rams to an average price of $1163 and to a top of $1500. MQ Hunter & Co of Bribbaree Purchased 10 rams to an average of $1000. Tumbleton Partnership, Wallendbeen purchased 6 rams for an average of $1250 and to a top of $1400. David Corcoran from Delta Young secured clients Old Bundemar, Binalong, 10 rams averaging $1030 and Garry James from Holman & Tolmie Cootamundra purchased for clients Avondale Livestock, 9 rams to an average of $1088. David Hazel on behalf of MFA Elsegood, Bookham purchased an excellent line of 3 rams to an average of $1333 and Werong Partnership, Yass secured 4 rams to an average of $1087 and to a top of $1200.
After donating $100 from every ram sold on the day, John and Anna raised $9,100 to be divided amongst the Young Can Assist, the McGrath Foundation and The Chris O’Brien Life house. A generous donation from Phill and Sally Butt of Butt Livestock and Property, Delta Agribusiness Young plus personal donations on the day brought the total amount to over $10,000. A special thank you to Gail Hanagan and Penny Nuthall from Can Assist who kindly braved the heat to help out with the catering.
