Ian Schofield, Ged Hardman and Russell Boyd defeated Oscar Lopez’s team 31–10 on Sunday morning and won 21–15 against John Harriott’s team on Sunday afternoon. Barry Reynolds, Geoff Holt and Graeme Edgerton defeated Bob New’s team 34–18 and Graham Davidson’s team 22–19.
The other four teams from the club were eliminated on Sunday afternoon.
There were five closely fought games of Club Singles completed on Saturday afternoon with four of the games taking 34 or more ends.
The results were: George Somerville 31 d Brian Madden 25; Russell Boyd 31 d Geoff Holt 22; Cliff Traynor 31 d Joe Bargwanna 25; Damien Miller 31 d Peter Slater 23; and John Cooper 31 d Stewart Taylor 29.
There were also 20 players involved in Saturday’s Jackpot bowls. Brian March and Denis Rosen won the Penrose Funerals sponsored vouchers when the won their game by 15 shots.
Other winning teams were Grant Fuller and Terry Mulligan (13); Tim Carpenter and Dave Quigley (7); Peter Berry and Les Fanning (1); and Andrew Hutchison and Kevin Bryant (1).
Russell Boyd, Geoff Holt and Tom Preston shared the $200 jackpot.
Fourteen players took part on Sunday morning with the winning team of Roger Allen and Chris Wright scoring 14 points.
A count–back was needed to decide the winners for the Tuesday night division of the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge with the Fryer Tucks prevailing over Lions Club.
On Thursday night Murringo had the best score with 15 points. Two new teams, the Wombat Burgers and Wombat Warriors, played on Thursday night.
On Thursday afternoon there were 28 players involved and Don Close and Colin Stokell were the overall winners with a margin of 26 shots.
Friday night saw a continuation of the Jack Attack program with some extra players involved and a really great night on the green. The club would like to acknowledge the wonderful support from Richard Mellish Insurance Services in sponsoring the purchase of materials for this program.
The club is very appreciative of the support of other businesses that have provided sponsorship so that a nominated charity will receive $1000 at the conclusion of the event.
