The 2017 winter soccer competition is fast approaching and the Young Lions Soccer Club is hoping they will have another big season.
President of the Young Lions Soccer Club Paul Cameron believes that soccer is a great way for kids and families to come together and share their love of the game, get fit and have fun.
“Soccer is a great sport for all kids to play.
“Boys and girls combine to learn teamwork and build skills in a safe environment,” Cameron said.
Football Federation Australia’s CEO David Gallop believes the same thing, that football is a game for everyone.
“Our game is safe, simple and skillful for boys and girls,” Gallop said.
“You can register for Under 5’s, 6’s, 7’s, 8’s, 10’s, 12’s, 14’s, 17’s or for our Kickstart Soccer which is for children with a disability aged 5-16,” Cameron said.
“Registrations are open now.
“I encourage parents to jump onto our website and sign their kids up before rego cuts off on Friday April 7, last day of term one.”
Cameron is calling on parents to register their kids before the end of term one so the club has plenty of time to organise draws and prepare for the club’s annual Gala Day.
“We need parents to register by this date so we have teams and draws up for the season kick off, at our annual Gala Day on Saturday April 29,” Cameron said.
As part of winter registration fees the Young Lions Soccer Club has opened up the opportunity for children to nominate to play in the six-a-side competition the club is running.
Commencing on Wednesday March 8, 2017 the competition gives the players an opportunity to work on their skills and teamwork before the start of the winter competition.
The six-a-side coordinator Glenn Payne invites children who will be playing in the Under 8’s, U10’s, U12’s, U14’s and U17’s to email their nominations.
Under 15’s and Under 16 players will be able to play in the Under 17’s division of the six-a-side competition.
“The six-a-side competition which will run for five weeks and finish on April 5,” Payne said.
“We will play on Wednesday afternoons from 4 pm at Hall Brothers Oval.”
“After they register for the winter comp, parents need to email their child’s name and age division, and team if they have created one,” Payne said.
