Appearing before Magistrate Dare, the 40-year-old represented himself as he plead guilty to stealing a number of DVDs at Big W in Young late last year.
“What have you got to say for yourself Mr Parsons?” Magistrate Dare asked.
“Nothing,” Parsons responded.
Magistrate Dare convicted Parsons of Larceny and fined him $200.
According to police at 2.30 pm on December 16, Parsons was in Big W, Young where he entered the DVD section of the store and removed nine DVDs to the total value of $95 that he placed in his pants.
A staff member observed Parsons’ actions and contacted police. A staff member identified Parsons in the car park.
Police approached Parsons and placed him under arrest. Police said Parsons made full admissions to taking the DVDs.
When police asked the accused if he intended to pay for the DVDs Parsons’ response was “no.”
