The entrants consisted of students from Young High School and Hennessy Catholic College.
Participants submitted a resume and did an interview with the panel of judges before they gave a two minute impromptu speech and a five minute prepared speech.
The judging panel consisted of Daniel Patterson, Gail Steinhardt and Kathryn Willis who had an extremely difficult time deciding on the winner.
Hennessy Catholic College’s Trudy Perkins took out the public speaking award with the overall winner Mary-Louise Minehan also from Hennessy Catholic College.
The winners will now compete at the zone competition in Grenfell on Sunday.
