Former Yabbies join big clubs
Two standout players from last year’s Under 18’s side are already making their mark in Canberra.
Riley Turner has been recruited by the very strong and career changing Vikings Rugby Club for the 2017 season.
Declan Brebner has joined the ACT Under 20's team in the Brumbies Junior Rugby Academy opening doors to further the young gun’s career.
Yabbies season launch
The Young Yabbies Rugby Union Club will be holding their season launch at the Young Services Club on Friday March 17.
The season opener will include Australian Rugby Union CEO Bill Pulver as a guest speaker which the Yabbies are claiming as quite the coup.
Pulver will be discussing Australian Rugby Union objectives and direction in an open forum which will include the opportunity for those in attendance to ask Pulver questions.
The season opening function will also see representatives from the ACT Junior Rugby Union attending. The representatives will be explaining the junior set-up, career path opportunities and how they can assist Young Rugby to grow and develop the junior ranks in the club.
The event will also see many of the Vikings Rugby Club players in attendance including NRC representative players. The players will be discussing the development opportunities that are set up and run by the Vikings club. Previous Yabbies have already shown what a relationship with the franchise can provide. The Vikings pride themselves on being a gateway to greater honours for local players.
The season launch event is a rare opportunity for all sports fans to see and hear information straight from the top while here in Young.
Tickets are available from the Young Services Club at $40 a head which includes a three course meal.
The club encourages people to book a table of ten for a great night out.

“We really want to promote this great opportunity to encourage people to get along and hear what Mr. Pulver has to say,” Young Yabbies publicity officer Cec Finlay said.
“We have sold about half the tickets already and are keen for surrounding Rugby clubs to book a table.”
