The team of Phil Taylor, Geoff Holt and Graeme Edgerton claimed the District Triples Championship for 2017 when they defeated Ian Schofield, Ged Hardman and Russell Boyd in Sunday’s final.
On Saturday Graeme defeated Robert Styles 26–12 and Roman Bondaruk 22–13.
In the corresponding games Russell had wins over Greg Neal 33–15 and Jim Deacon 24–20.
The final was a close contest and with the score at 17 all the game could have gone either way.
Graeme’s team did best over the final ends to win 24 – 19.
At home on Saturday three games of Club Singles were played and the results were George Somerville 31 d Albert Carter 26, Joe Chambers 31 d Joe Read 8, and John Cooper 31 d Cliff Traynor 27.
In addition, twenty–four players were involved in Jackpot Bowls. The vouchers for the afternoon were sponsored by Penrose Funerals and they went to Terry Mulligan and Joe Bargwanna with a winning margin of 12 shots.
Other winning teams and their margins were Andrew Hutchison and Rod Cummings (10), Darryle Miller and Dave Quigley (8), David Donges and Harold Anderson (6), Brian March and Colin Stokell (4) and Greg Woods and Alan Gall (3).
