Reactions have ranged through a myriad of opinions and emotions over the arrest of a local man for terrorist related charges.
“You can't imagine this in Young,” Marylouise Bolger said, summing up what a lot of locals feel.
While there has been a lot of shock over the incident, many people are not surprised.
“Don't know why people are so surprised considering the number caught,” Stephen Jones said.
Despite the mixed emotions expressed there has been a call by some locals to not hold one person responsible for an entire religion.
“And so the cycle of hate is perpetuated in our town, let this not bring intolerance to our community, love defeats hate, hate breeds hate, lets be tolerant and love,” Ray North said.
“Hate is what leads to extremist groups in the first place,” Andy Jay said.
“Don't let the actions of one destroy that of many,” Simon Weeks said.
