New committee
The Young Junior Yabbies’ new Committee is made up with the following people. All members on the committee are volunteers and the club are thankful for them stepping forward and committing their time for the Club.
President: Brendon Stoney.
Vice President: Ben Lane.
Treasurer: Peter Kirkwood.
Secretary: Monique Woodward.
Publicity Officer: Sarah Waddell.
Registrar: Brooke McCann.
Equipment/Merchandising Manager: Prue and Andy Hufton.
General Committee Members: Peter Cusack, Jeff Nuthall, Addy Nuthall, Nathan McEvoy.
Coaches
Young Junior Yabbies also have a fresh intake of volunteer coaches for the 2017 season.
This year, Southern Inland Rugby Union have changed the age divisions of the teams.
Young Junior Yabbies Rugby Union Club now have the following divisions:-
Girls Viva U10’s: Ben Shipp, Doug Houston
Girls Viva U13’s: Rick Baldwin
Girl’s Viva U16’s: James Shannon
Rugby U7’s: Craig Taylor, David Woodward, David Clark, Ben Reid
Rugby U8’s: Em Madge
Rugby U10’s: Paul Cameron, Mick Bryant, Richard Hewitt
Rugby U12’s: Ben Lane, Peter Kirkwood, Andy Hufton
Rugby U14’s: Jeff Nuthall, Pete Cusack
Specialist Coach: Finn Martin

Season start
Young Yabbies Junior Rugby Union will be having an informal training session on Friday, March 10 at 5.30 pm on Hall Bros Oval.
Following the training session the Young Yabbies Rugby Club will be playing their first trial match against the Temora Tuskers at 7.30 pm. The Young Yabbies will be running a canteen and encourage our Young Junior Rugby players and their families, to stay to watch, and support the senior rugby boys.
The Young Junior Yabbies official Season Launch will be held on March 24 at 5 pm where all registered players for the 2017 season will receive their uniforms. The Club as a whole has said all families are invited and encouraged to stay for a light dinner after the training session has finished.
“Our club has a great history of making Friday nights all about Rugby, families and fun,” Sarah Waddell said.
“This will continue for 2017.”
The Young Yabbies Rugby Union Club are holding their Season Launch with a dinner on March 17 at the Young Services Club. Guest Speaker for the night is the Australian Rugby Union CEO, Bill Pulver. Tickets for the event are $40 which includes a three course meal and can be purchased at the Young Services Club reception.
Young Yabbies Canteen
The Young Yabbies are still on the hunt for a canteen manager with the position still being advertised as vacant.
Sarah Waddell has said there are a band of merry helpers waiting in the wings to be given a timetable and all they need is their conductor.
Young Yabbies have asked anyone interested to please speak to any of the Committee’s members if they are willing and able to help the club out.
Young Primary Schools Gala Day
On Friday March 17, there is The Young Primary Schools Gala Day to be held at the Young Yabbies home ground – Hall Bros Oval.
The Young Yabbies are required to run the canteen, and are calling for volunteers that can help out on the day as a whole or even for a few hours.
“Whatever you are able to assist with will be greatly appreciated,” Sarah Waddell said.
The Club is also looking for any baked goods to sell that can be left at the Yabbies Clubhouse on the morning of the Gala Day. Anyone able to help is asked to speak with Mon Woodward.
Registration and Facebook
The Young Yabbies Junior Rugby Club reminder if you haven’t registered your children already, there are links on out Young Junior Rugby Union Facebook page for each age division to register.
“It’s all straight forward and easy, payment on the spot,” Sarah Waddell said.
“If you are on Facebook, please like our page as this will keep you up to date with all announcements, events and general news from the club.”

SIRU Rep players
A group of players from the club have been selected to play in the SIRU (Southern Inland Rugby Union) competition.
It’s a great achievement for these boys and they should be proud of their efforts.

U13’s – Harry Nuthall, Will Cusack, Charlie Sullivan and Kade Wilder,
U14’s - Will Martin,
U15’s – Alby Canavagh and Bene Bonsembiante.
The Club wishes to congratulate the boys and remind them to thank their parents for all the driving ahead of them.
“So, as you can see, lots happening within the JNR Yabbies and we all are looking forward to a great season,” Sarah Waddell said.
