With thirty-five teams from all across the region and the state, the turnout was impressive according to the Young and District Netball Association considering another Netball Association only a few hours away from town held their carnival on the same day.
Young and District Netball Association’s committee said all three local teams performed well.
“The numbers of teams were down on the same carnival last year but with the Young Netball Association hosting one of the first representative netball carnivals of the season this event is always popular,” the committee said.
“Young teams went really well, they didn’t win or come runner-up but for their first carnival out this season they did really well.”
The Young Open, Under 12 and Under 15 teams will all compete in five more carnivals that will be held all across the region as they also focus on their fitness and teamwork before the teams will compete in the pinnacle of their 2017 season at the State Championships and State-age Championships.
The Young Open team will compete at the State Championships over the June long weekend in Baulkham Hills.
The Under 12 and Under 15 teams will take part in the State-age Championships in Campbelltown on July 1, 2 and 3 which falls on the first week of the July school holidays.
The netball teams are holding a movie fundraiser this Thursday, March 23 to raise money towards the championships. Tickets are still available to attend Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson for $20 including supper. They are available from Southern Cross Cinema and the Young Witness office.
