Druett only lost one game in his block which saw him qualify for the the semi-finals.
Tournament Manager Robyn Willis said Druett played extremely well throughout the carnival.
"The first semi-final was won convincingly by Peter Druett, who beat Peter Freer from Canberra who is a scratch player and had just come back from playing in the World Golf Croquet Championships," she said.
"So, it is a feather in Peter Druett's cap to beat such a prestigious player.
"Play was handicap so Peter Druett had extra turns on Peter Freer - Druett now finds that his handicap has decreased by two and he is now a four instead of a six."
Mrs Willis said after Edna Kelly won her Semi-final the stage was set for an all Young decider.
"Edna played an amazing and exciting semi-final to defeat Kaye Moffat from Albury, after winning her six-block games convincingly," she said.
"With two Young locals in the final, the day was always going to end well for the town.
"Young were so successful at the tournament with Druett outplaying Edna Kelly in the grand final.
"All games were exciting, and we had a large number of spectators enjoying the games."
Mrs Willis said Druett competed against a field of thirty-two players.
“The carnival was very successful because we had participates from from Wollongong, Forster, Port Hacking, Jambaroo, Port Macquarie, Albury, Canberra, Blue Mountains Traralgon, Young, Walla Walla and Wagga Wagga.
"The players competed for $500 in prize money and all enjoyed the country atmosphere of the Riverina especially the city visitors," she said.
"The weather was hot and humid for the six games of the Thursday doubles, but a lovely breeze cooled the players over the weekend."
New handicapping system
Mrs Willis reminded all Croquet participants to keep up to date with all rules as a new handicapping system will come into effect on April 2.
The New System has a greater range (23 levels ranging from -6 to 20) compared to the current system (13 levels ranging from 0 to 12).
The great majority of players who have handicaps between 11 and three will find that their handicap will not change. There may be some change for players with a handicap of one and zero.
