The 2017 Lambing Flat Chinese Festival officially kicked off at 7 pm on Wednesday night with the official opening of the festival sculpture, wood and big art exhibition.

The exhibition at Young Town Hall will be run until 3 pm Sunday afternoon with free entry to the exhibit.
The festival’s main day will be on Saturday with an action packed day of displays, exhibits, presentations and street stalls on Lynch Street.
From 9.30 am the art exhibit at town hall will be open.
At the same time two talented musicians, David and Eva will be playing a wide range of Chinese and Chinese-inspired music.
From 10 am on Saturday morning The Lambing Flat Folk Museum will open giving visitors the opportunity to see first hand the original Lambing Flat banner as well as a range of other historical artefacts from Young’s past.
At 10 am the food and market stalls on Lynch Street will open and offer a wide variety of products available for purchase.
At the same time as the food and market stalls open the colourful Chinese lantern display will begin.
There will also be an amazing Traditional Wushu performance that will showcase the beauty, strength and skill in the Chinese martial art performed by the Australian National University’s Traditional Chinese Culture Society.
From 2 pm on Saturday, the public will be given the opportunity to discover the ancient art of Chinese calligraphy with teacher Jiyi Wang.
The cost of the session is a gold coin donation and participants can have their name written in traditional Chinese script.
From 2 pm the acknowledgement to country and the official opening of the Lambing Flat Chinese Festival will take place on Lynch Street.
From 2.15 pm There will be a spectacular Chinese lion dancers performance on poles.
The performance will take place in front of the Post Office and will be performed by the Australian Yau Kung Mun Association from Sydney.
The Lion dances have been very popular in the past with young and old alike so be sure to get their early to secure a spot. During the Chinese Lion performance, the public will be given the opportunity to take part in a rich Chinese luck tradition.
In Chinese culture ‘lucky’ red envelopes containing donations of money can be given to the dancing lions.
From 3.15 pm Local schools will perform in the future faces display.
David and Eva and the Chinese Lions will continue to perform throughout the evening with market stalls staying open until 7 pm.
Saturday at the Lambing Flat Chinese Festival will conclude at 9 pm.
