But this is exactly what happened recently at the Great Eastern Hotel when Beach Boy Bruce Johnson arrived in town on his way to their gig in Wagga Wagga.
Bruce, who joined the Beach Boys in the mid 60's to replace the departing Glen Campbell (yes that Glen Campbell), is also a composer of note, and wrote the Grammy award winning song I Write The Songs which was a massive worldwide hit for Barry Manilow.
Bruce left the Beach Boys for a few years in the early 1970s after the release of their minor classic album "Surfs Up”, and then returned to the fold a couple of years later where he has remained ever since.
According to Great Eastern manager Madelon Goodworth, Bruce told her he “heard some music in the pub, liked the atmosphere and bought a soft drink, before introducing himself.”
