About 2 pm on Monday, March 27, Cootamundra LAC Detectives stopped a vehicle in Lachlan St, Young, containing two men.
Cootamundra LAC Sergeant Kristin Marshall said police initially pulled the car over for a random breath test.
“The result of that test was negative,” she said.
“But the instincts of the police at the time coupled with the nervous behaviour of the occupants in the car resulted in police searching the vehicle.
“Police are patrolling the streets and roads of our region and this arrest was part of our regular activities.”
Detective Inspector Scott Wilkinson said once police commenced a search of the vehicle and its occupants a suspicious container was found.
“Police searched both persons and the car, where they found a container containing what is alleged to be a small amount of the prohibited drug, methylamphetamine,” he said.
“A 21-year-old man from Young was arrested.
“That man was taken to Young Police Station where he was interviewed.
“He has subsequently been issued a court attendance notice for Supplying a Prohibited Drug and Possession.”
Detective Inspector Scott Wilkinson said the man will appear at the Young Local Court on April 18, 2017.
