Hilltops Council and Hilltops Youth Council has planned an exciting Youth Week Program for this year. According to Hilltops Council, the line-up of events covers the whole region with events in Boorowa, Harden and Young.
The week kicks off in Young on Thursday, March 30 with a movie night at the Southern Cross Cinema featuring Kong Skull Island starring Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L Jackson. Tickets are $10 each and include the movie, pizza and drink. Tickets are available at Hilltops Council’s Young Office or by calling (02) 6380 1200.
A Skateboarding Workshop will be run at the Harden Skate Park on Saturday, April 8 from 10 am by the Canberra Skateboarding Association.
The day will begin with a skate progression session from 10 am - 12 pm, followed by a demonstration from the Trilogy skateboard team combined with the best trick jam from 12 pm - 1 pm at the Harden Skate Park. Bookings are essential as there are limited spaces. Please contact Hilltops Council’s Harden Office on (02) 6386 0100 for bookings.
For the second year and Boorowa’s version of the trademark event, the Colour Run, now known as the Boorowa Superb Shuffle, is a 3 km fun walk/jog/run along the Boorowa River Walk with participants encouraged to wear white and be ‘coloured’ along the way.
Registration is at 10 am on Sunday, April 9 at the Boorowa Recreation Grounds.
The event is free and is a great way to meet new friends, get some fresh air and exercise and see the region.
There will be free transport for all residents in the Hilltops Region for anyone wanting to travel to activities in the various communities. Transport to all functions is available through Community Transport. Bookings are essential. Please contact Kelly Rolfe on (02) 6382 1518 to make arrangements.
Youth Week began as a NSW Government initiative in 1989. The week is a celebration of young people in every state and territory across the country.
Youth Week is organised by young people, for young people, in communities across NSW and Australia. Following the success of the NSW Youth Week program, Youth Week became a National event in 2000. National Youth Week is jointly supported by the Australian Government, State and Territory Governments and Local Governments.
For more information, please contact one of Council’s three administration offices. National Youth Week events can be found online at www.youthweek.nsw.gov.au.
