The meeting will commence with a Ladyship Pace over 1720 m with a competitive field of 10 runners to face the starter. Innocent Crocker looks the favourite following some consistent performances of late and is well drawn. Dangers appear to be Grinear Girl, Taylah Studleigh and Annie Matilda if allowed to lead.
Race two is a three-year-old with a competitive field engaged but with no recent winners, the form is a little difficult to ascertain. Possibly Niki Deva from the Shane Hillier stable will be supported while Scotty Titian and Shes A Writer are from strong Western District stables. Special handicap conditions should result in an exciting race as we move through to race three.
Last start winner Courageous Beau will start from the second line which could be difficult, especially with Shadow Stride racing consistently of late but is drawn in an awkward gate.
The fast class race is race four and here the main chances appear to be the “In Form” Rocknchaton together with Kyalla Luke, Tulhurst Ace and Killara Ninja. The 2100 m event, starting in the back straight at 7:23 pm should be a spectacle not to be missed, especially with free admission still being offered by the Young club.
An Encouragement Stakes is race five and with the rolling back of the clock, some of these trainers will need all the encouragement they can get. The locally trained and owned Forest Fury has been supported over recent starts and trial form suggests that win is well within the realms of possibility. If a win is to be, then the amber fluid may run free for a while at one local watering hole no doubt. Dangers in a hard race include Dot Ayou, Mistter Tulhurst and possibly Ektoras at huge odds.
The penultimate event will see pole marker Remember Mac installed as favourite and should not let his supporters down. From a strong stable, the consistent pacer has been placed in his last three starts and looks well drawn here.
The final race of the night is timed to start at 8:52 pm and is a lottery, to say the least. Finding a winner in this race is very difficult and a “watch, wait and see” approach possibly the best option for investors. All in all the evening should produce some good racing with of course the usual amenities being provided.
In a rain interrupted ten-race programme at Canberra on Monday night, “Team Jenner” stole the show with another great effort with a winning double. Current “Horse Of The Year” at Canberra, Ned Pepper literally stormed home over the concluding stages to defeat some more fancied runners and in doing so rate a smart 1:59.1 mile rating under some polished driving from regular stable driver Angela Hedges. Owned by the breeder Terry Jenner and husband of the trainer Katie, the Maimuru trio were rewarded for their dedication and effort over many months of hard work. The second winner on the night for the likeable couple came in race eight when the lightly raced son of Sportswriter, Wandering Allnight lead throughout to defeat Point Danger and Flinders Lane by a convincing 8.75-metre margin and will now contest the $6,000 final to be run at Canberra next Monday night.
