The first round of the Young junior rugby league competition kicked off before the Easter break on Saturday April 8 with plenty of blistering runs and tries scored on a beautiful sunny Autumn day.

Junior rugby league publicity officer Brooke McIllhatton said the kids where pumped and ready for the season to start.
“It was a great day for footy and you could see the kids and the spectators enjoyed the opening round of games,” she said.
In the U7s first match the Sharks took on the Eels.
For the Sharks this was a great first game of the season.
Joe Nicolls (2), Caden (1) and Braxden Cross (2) along with Lincoln Sutherland (2) were the try scorers with Xavier Druett and Owen McCorkendale making breaks and were very unlucky not to score.
Edward Cusack and William Rhys- Dowling were amazing in defence allowing the Sharks to win today.
Man of the match went to Lincoln Sutherland.
In the second U7s game the Broncos came up against the Panthers.
For the Panthers this was a great start to the season. Lots of fun was had by all.
Tries scored for the Bronco’s went to Aiden (1), Zack (2) and Braith (3).
Man of the match went to Nyxon.
Well done to all the boys of a fantastic first game.
For the Panthers, the crowd saw great runs by all the players. There were some amazing tackles by Gus Thornhill, Hugh Bennett, Carter McKenzie, Will Bennett and forward runs by Bently Quinn and Toby Edwards.
Ground covering tries scored by Jack Willis (2) and Mitchell Schiller (2).
Man of the match went to Jack Willis.
In the U9s the Storm played the Sea Eagles. For the Storm we saw excellent defence by Jesse and Jordan.
Man of the match went to CAyliss Richens for his excellent try saving tackles. For the Eagles it was a great win.
Tries scored went to Lachlan Batnich (2), Arthur Kouventaris (1), Harry Coddington (2) and Kobe Owen (1).
Goals kicked by Lachlan Batnich, Alexander Reynolds, Darcy Loco, Matt Reimer and Arthur Kouventaris.
Man of the match went to Arthur Kouventaris.
In the second game the Raiders tackled the Rabbits. This was an exciting game. For the Raiders a great team effort for the first game with Zara Anderson making some great runs.
Man of the match was Jarryd Mills for his big runs and hard defence.
Tries scored went to Will Bryant (2), Billy Kouventaris (1) and Dane Mott (1).
All the Raiders played well.
