"I've waited a long time for this baby, and now she is here, I'm revelling in it," said beaming Channel Seven host Sally Obermeder to Fairfax Media.

"But it's an adjustment for [big sister] Annabelle???. She is gone from having all of our undivided attention to suddenly having to share.

"She said to us the other day, 'Do you guys remember the good old days before Elyssa came along'?" Sally laughed.

She continued: "She is five years old now so she can really express herself and she's like, 'I'm not No.1 in this house any more, am I'? It's so heartbreaking but hilarious."

When Sally was 41 weeks pregnant with Annabelle, she was diagnosed with a rare form of aggressive breast cancer. Her treatment included eight months of intense chemotherapy, which started when Annabelle was just 10 days old, and a double mastectomy.

Five years after getting the all clear, she and her husband of 16 years, Marcus, welcomed Elyssa with the aid of a surrogate in the United States four months ago.

"I wanted another baby and I couldn't have one, now she is in our arms, it's the best thing we have ever done," she said.

The pair remain close with Rachel, their surrogate, who has three children of her own in school.

She's on maternity leave from The Daily Edition, but shows no signs of taking a backseat from work life.

The Good Life cookbook author and Swiish fashion and lifestyle guru has launched a line of frozen smoothie packs named after her bestselling second book, Super Green Smoothies.

"People I know are time poor. I have taken the prep work out for them," she explained.

"The packs have vegetable and fruit, so all you have to do is blend ... They fuelled my recovery and now they've taken on a life of their own."
