Hospital Auxiliary President Janice Ward said she appreciated the generosity of local businesses who had donated items for the six raffle prizes.
“The Final profit for the day was $1,867, which will be put towards the cost of the two trauma beds the Auxiliary is purchasing for the hospital,” she said.
“The first trauma bed has already saved a life when a lady who had a heart arrest was brought to emergency and nurses were able to take the trauma bed out to her, move her onto it and take her to the Emergency Department.
“Once she was in the ED they could lower the bed to the right height to perform resuscitation.
“If they’d transferred her in a wheelchair and then transferred her to the old ED bed, too much time would have elapsed, and they would have lost her.”
