Catherine Pierce has now reached 1300 signatures on her petition to rename the city landmark the Wagga Base Hospital.
Ms Pierce was motivated to pursue the change after she was trapped in a hospital elevator because the operator did not know what the Wagga Rural Referral Hospital was.
The 71-year-old has now upped her efforts, door knocking throughout the city to spread word of the movement.
“I’m not just going to let this fade away and be forgotten,” she said.
“I want them to wake up and realise that it’s the laughing stock of Wagga.
“The fact that the name change hasn’t even set in with their own lift operators shows that it was a stupid, pointless decision.”
Ms Pierce in March had a “promising” meeting with senior management at Murrumbidgee Local Health District, but she has not yet achieved victory.
She said the hospital should be the region’s “base”.
Readers of The Daily Advertiser overwhelmingly supported the push, with 83.5% of poll recipients calling for the Wagga Base Hospital brand to return.
