Goulburn were first to score catapulting the local side into action as they peppered the Goulburn line with constant attacks before veteran hooker Tom Wills split the defence and crashed over the line. The Yabbies kept applying the pressure and undeterred, the locals kept the opposition on the back foot with some excellent scrimmaging by the forwards which enabled halfback Dave Johnston to score. Johnston crossed over for his second try and a half time lead.
As play switched from end to end, Young was penalised which led to a Goulburn try and the lead. With mistakes the order of the day, Goulburn pounced on a loose ball, set a quick ruck then spun the ball wide, found the overlap and scored in the corner for a final score of 26-19.
Best for Young were Dave Johnston (3), Brad McKinnon (2) and Jack Everdell (1). (D Johnston 2 tries, T Wills 1 try and B McKinnon 2 conv).
