On Sunday afternoon in a closely contested and high quality game Damien defeated Russell Boyd 31–24.
The early stages of the game saw the scores level at 8–all and again at 16–all.
Damien then won six of the next seven ends to lead 29–17.
Russell narrowed the gap to 30–24 before some excellent bowls by both players on the final end saw Damien score the winning shot.
Congratulations to both Damien and Russell on the standard of bowls played in this game.
In the Club Pairs Championship a total of eight games were played this week.
On Thursday afternoon Ian Schofield and Ged Hardman defeated John Cooper and Harold Anderson 19–18.
The results for Saturday’s games were:
- Geoff Holt and Graeme Edgerton defeated Stewart Taylor and Joe Chambers 23–17.
- Peter Slater and Denis Rosen defeated Jock Rogerson and George Somerville 25–16.
- Les Fanning and David Ward defeated David Donges and Mick Manning 26–7.
- Peter Berry and Joe Hennock defeated Scott Munro and Trevor Howell 26–17.
On Sunday afternoon:
- Geoff Holt and Graeme Edgerton defeated Grant Fuller and Mark Brownlie 34–9.
- Alex Watson and Cliff Traynor defeated James Freudenstein and Justin Nowlan 26–9.
- Kevin Porter and Brian Madden defeated Bill and James Maloney 24–7.
Fourteen bowlers played Jackpot Bowls on Saturday. Greg Woods and Col Chapman won the Penrose Funerals sponsored vouchers with a margin of seven shots. Geoff Holt and Graeme Edgerton won the jackpot of $200 with a margin of six shots.
Thursday afternoon bowls saw 22 players involved. All the games had close scores with the highest margin being seven shots for Ian Sargeant, Brian Christie and Terry Mulligan.
The winners for Sunday morning bowls were Greg and Joe Hennock with 16 points. It was pleasing to see some new players taking part. Further games in the Club Pairs will be played this weekend.

- the club’s annual Two Bowl Triples Tournament on May 27 and 28, and
- the Minor Pairs Championship to start early in June.
