McMahon presented the 2017/18 Operational Plan and its budget at the monthly council meeting on Wednesday night.
“The plan and its associated budget reflect transitional work done to date in bringing the three former Council’s operations into one integrated organisation,” he said.
“Over the last ten months, staff have sought to include the visions and objectives of each of the former Council's plans in a more structured and unified format, one council plan rather than three separate plans.
“Staff have identified individual projects and activities that were either suggested in the former council’s delivery program or aligned with the former community strategic plans and included them in budget discussions to determine priorities and specify which projects will be undertaken in the 2017/2018 year.”
Mr McMahon said the council will be holding community forums in Harden, Young and Boorowa to explain the key contents of the plan. “Council is be required to consider all submissions during a 28-day public consultation period,” he said.
Amongst major projects slated for approval under the Stronger Communities Fund are road network improvement programs, updates and improvements to the Young Regional Library, Lambing Flat Chinese Tribute Garden, the Young Swimming Pool and the Young Tennis Courts.
Other projects that may get underway are the upgrading and installation of Young street lights and poles, the sealing of urban streets and rural roads and upgrading and extending kerbing and guttering in urban areas.
