The 40 km/h school speed zones were back into effect on Monday morning as teachers and staff returned to work in preparation for students returning on Wednesday.
Police have attempted to make motorists aware the zones are back in force with posts on both Facebook and Twitter.
School zones are operational between 8 am to 9.30 am and 2.30 pm to 4 pm during weekdays.
Police have said with the return to school they will be targeting the zones to ensure motorists obey the 40 km/h speed limit.
Parents are also asked to be cautious when dropping children off and picking children up from school.
With larger vehicles, even with reversing cameras it is easy to lose sight of children near and around cars.
