Coach Andrew McIllhatton said the Cherrypickers did not compete at all in the first half.
“Someone forgot to tell our blokes the game started at 3pm as Wagga Brothers seemingly scored at will in the first half to go into the half time break leading 22-4,” he said.
“At the half time break we spoke about attitude and not giving up which seemed to spark the boys into action. Harry Fitzpatrick had a field day in the second half scoring three runaway tries and Connor Corcoran scored right under the posts with a great charge and after missing his first kick nearly in front, goal kicker Thomas McIllhatton was kicking them from everywhere.
“Young’s defence sparked up after things got a little fiery and when Ben Baker backed up a break from half back Ethan Newham to race away for a four pointer we had sealed an unlikely win.”
Jai Purdie ,Nick Jenkins, Connor Corcoran, Thomas McIllhatton, Harry Fitzpatrick, Ben Baker, Ethan Newham ,Kynan Davis, new Captain Cooper Powderly and U14 superstar Mitch Prest were the best players on the day.
