Sub-branch secretary, Ken May, said the badge was handed in to the Sturt Mall office on Anzac Day.
“Either a WWII veteran or a descendant has dropped at the march,” Mr May said.
“It would be valuable to the person who lost it.”
The badge is date stamped 1948 and carries the number 13618, but Mr May has discovered that number does not identify the recipient.
The sub-branch can be contacted by telephoning 6921 3528.
General service badges were awarded to served full-time for 28 days or more, but did not serve overseas.
The badge was also awarded to war correspondents, official photographers and representatives of philanthropic bodies.
The sub-branch this year has been successful in finding owners of lost medals
