Joining for a great cause in Wombat

Last Friday night the Wombat Hotel hosted musician Mel Yeates who is travelling across Australia to raise funds for Samuel Johnson’s Love Your Sister campaign and Beyond Blue.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Wombat Hotel Social Club and the support of the hotel and it’s patrons Ms Yeates from from A Girl, Her Car and Her Guitar raised over $1,200.

Ms Yeates said that the money raised in Wombat last Friday night was the most she has raised from a pub gig to date and was overwhelmed with the support from such a small community.

“An awesome fellow by the name of Matt contacted me a few weeks ago asking if I would be interested in coming to his little town of Wombat and playing at the local pub,” Ms Yeates said.

Before Ms Yeates had even taken her guitar out she was presented with a $500 cheque from the Wombat Hotel Social Club.

Wombat Hotel Social Club pride themselves in raising funds for charities like Ms Yeates and also supporting local charities and the community and to date have given away over $125,000.
