The NBN was out of service in Young last Wednesday due to a planned outage according to NBN Co.
NBN NSW Spokeswoman Marcela Balart said the planned outage was so works could be carried out in the Young area.
"We notified retailers in late April of the scheduled outage to give them plenty of time to inform their customers," she said.
"Service was out in Young from 7am Wednesday morning and should have been completed by 5pm.”
But angry Young residents say they were not informed by their providers to prepare for the outage.
Fiona Douglas said on the Witness’ Facebook page that her provider did not know about the outage.
“I spent 40 minutes on the phone with Telstra, and they didn't know about the outage, they scheduled a technician to come out on Friday to fix it,” she said.
Ms Balart said planned outages take place for the NBN Co to conduct works that improve their services.
