Jake Norton claimed first place for the second weekend in a row at Young Golf Club after playing a masterful round in the Mark Flanders Eye Q Powerplay event.

Norton recorded 48 points to win the power-play event from Sam Langford who came in second on 43 points on a countback from Ian Wells who also came in on 43 points.
“A good number of interested members attended the Annual General Meeting last Wednesday night,” Young Golf Club committee member Bill Kearney said.
During the meeting elections were held to nominate and elect new committee members to positions. The following positions were filled:
President: Patrick Fitzgerald.
Vice-president: Steve Dewar.
Secretary: Craig Watson.
Committee members: Michele Blizzard, Kim Watson, David Hamblin, Bill Kearney, Phil Mitchell (vice-captain) and Gavin Marshall.
Mr Kearney said the highlight of the evening was Phil Cartwright being inducted as an honorary life member of the Young Golf Club. Cartwright was the former Young Golf Club professional.
“His devotion to the club and his sterling service was highlighted by president Patrick Fitzgerald,” Mr Kearney said.
Last weekend Young Golf Club’s South West pennants for the scratch team begin. The Young Golf Club’s South West handicap pennants will begin this coming weekend. Next Saturday Young Golf Club will host a two person Ambrose event sponsored by Geoff Walker and Peter Rushby. Next Sunday the Young Golf Club will be holding a medley event sponsored by Pizza Hut.
“Congratulations to the ladies who held a successful tournament weekend and I am sure full details will be in Friday’s ladies golf news,” Mr Kearney said on behalf of all of Young Golf Club.
Young Golf Club’s professional Bryce Mawhinney participated in the Forbes Golf Club pro-am last Friday. Mawhinney shot a one over par 73 and finished the event in fourth place over all.
