At the end of round three the Cougars are sitting at the top of the ladder closely followed by the Red Backs. Young Combined Hockey Association publicity officer Bronte Rathjen said that the match between the two teams will surely see a strong and exciting match of hockey. Round three results: Cougars (7) d Bears (0), Red Backs (3) d DTS (1), Blues (0) – Penguins (0).
The Hockey Association’s first open skills and development training session started two weeks ago with great success at both the first and second week sessions.
“Big thanks to the keen and eager participants who attended the structured session coordinated by Brendan Sheppard,” Rathjen said.
“It’s great to see people take advantage of this opportunity to improve people’s skills and understanding of the game,” Sheppard said. “I would encourage anyone who would like to learn more about hockey or improve their skills to come down and have a go.”
The training sessions will continue every Tuesday night at 5 pm up until the end of the school term – weather permitting. The training is open to all ages and skill levels.

This year Young Combined Hockey Association’s traditional Tuesday night comp will be run with more of a social flavour with no formal teams or draw.
“Please arrive at the grounds before 6 pm and players will be split into a team before taking the field for a fun and social match,” Rathjen said. “We hope this will allow a more flexible approach to Tuesday night hockey with a great platform for new and beginner players to develop and practice their skills.”
The more players the association has on the night means they can run some interesting games with fun new rules.
“So why not bring a friend or family member along to Tuesday night hockey and enjoy a social game and free sausage sizzle,” Rathjen said.
