Our player’s personalities and skills are really starting to shine.
Whilst all the kids showed big improvement we had three stand out performers in Cooper ‘I will play when I am ready’ Hewitt who scored two sidestepping tries.
Jack ‘give me the ball’ Shea was at times untouchable now that he runs in the right direction and scores tries nearly every time he gets the ball.
Charlie ‘big ticker’ Lane gritted his teeth and played a great game and energised the team at every touch of the football.
Well done team, let’s go get them in Griffith.

Under 8s
After a great start to the season in Cootamundra, our boys took to tackling like ducks to water.
Fabulous weather called for a fabulous day of rugby in Temora.
Our under 8’s came out guns blazing in their first game against the home team winning 40 – 5.
Great running from James Rowntree and Jack Dowling was supported by tremendous defence from Sam Newell and Oscar McCann.
Fantastic stepping and tricky ball work in attack saw Max Schilt cross the line for numerous tries.
Hugo Davidson stepped up to the challenge making space out wide and helping secure the ball.
Our mighty Under 8s turned up the heat in their second game against Cootamundra.
The boys went down but not without a fight.
Fabulous front line running from Henry Hewson and Darcy Woodward gave the boys some power with strong tackling from Noah Lewin and James Rowntree.
The boys put their bodies on the line with Will Stoney a force to be reckoned with in both attack and defence.
Well done to our boys on such a huge improvement from week one.
Em Madge.
Under 10s – Greens
The Yabbies knocked the wind out of Tumut’s sails early with some dominating defence.
All the boys were ripping in, getting to the breakdown and helping each other out as Tumut struggled to overcome their enthusiasm.
We were convincing winners 40-5 with tries to Sam Schilt, Trent Sheehan, Toby Dowling, Josh Cameron and Riley Butcher.
However, none of these tries would have been possible without the relentless lead up work and tireless efforts of Dean Starling, Lucas Moloney, Nate Reid, Billy Davis and Max Shea.
The highlight of this game was the heart displayed by all of the Yabbies refusing to succumb to injury and choosing to remain on the field and support their teammates until the final whistle.
Another great team effort by all of the under 10s Greens with two tries to Josh Cameron and one try to Sam Schilt.
Paul Cameron.
Under 10s - White
U10 White had a great outing at the Temora Gala Day coming away with two impressive wins.
First game up against Tumut where we showed some great improvement in our defensive effort.
The ‘Wall’ kept Tumut on the backfoot and provide some opportunities to turn over the ball via Cal Holt, which were capitalised on.
The final score was 11 tries to Tumut’s 2 with some notable efforts from Oscar Taylor’s try along with Charlie Webber doing some great lead up work.
Second game was against a tough West Wyalong outfit who were more competitive at the breakdown.
Once we got some clean ball into the open our fast backs did their job with some strong runs and tries from Will Bryant, Drew Edwards and Olly Burgess who is quickly adapting to rugby.
In the forwards, there was some fantastic defence and hard work done by Sam Scott and Liam Miller with Ethan Miller having another strong game.
The final score was 11 tries to West Wyalong’s 4 with the play of the day going to our dynamic fly half Jesse Jewitt who took on the solid defence of the Pirates to carve his way through and link with Jackson Riley to who steamed away for his fifth try for the day.

Under 12s
The U12s had back to back games against Cootamundra and Tumut.
Their first game against Coota started with great purpose, drive and commitment.
The Yabbies took the game right up to the well drilled Coota team, dominating the forward play and taking the ball forward over the advantage line.
The Yabbies scored first in the corner, a just reward for their strong play.
However, after 10 minutes, their intensity dropped, and they failed to do the basics well.
Poor tackling and defence plus too much individual running and not enough passing out wide in the backline, gave a cohesive Coota team easy points out wide and they soon ran away with the game.
The boys fought back late in the second half, but lost the game 36-12.
Their second game against a depleted Tumut side was more flowing and the boys were able to run freely and keep the momentum going forward.
They still struggled to pass the ball all the way out the back line with easy points on offer.
The forwards took the ball up well but need to back up the ball runner. Young ran away with the game for a 50-0 win. Special thanks to Luke Jewitt and Dom Moran who willingly played for both opposition teams who were short on players.
Peter Kirkwood.
