Their first game against Grenfell had Annabelle Hudson breaking through the Grenfell defence only after a handful of quick ball phases and was able to stay ahead of the Grenfell defenders and 60 m run to score.
Young continued to pressure the opposition with good attacking mid field thanks to Abby Clark, Heidi Waddell and Harriet Davis which made more scoring opportunities available for the Young side. Ella McRae’s try was a memorable one as she managed to run the length of the field to score. Final score 35-0.
Young played Tumut in their next game with the Yabbies defence stifiling Tumut’s attacks. Tumut scored three unanswered tries but the girls showed their determination in defence.
The Yabbies looked like making a comeback in the second half with two tries from Erin Alcorn and Heidi Waddell however Tumut were too strong.
Erin Alcorn unfortunately sustained an injury later in the day and the Under 16s will now have the season without one of their star players. Erin’s four try haul shows what a great loss she will be and the club and her team all wish her the best for her recovery.
