Thursday afternoon with great weather a total of 30 players took part on the greens with the overall winners Peter Berry and Geoff Hines who won their game by 20 shots.
Geoff also won the prize for a resting toucher in the ditch which is a fairly rare occurrence.
Saturday afternoon the wind didn’t deter 24 players as they contested Young Bowling Club Jackpot Bowls with just one big winning margin from Peter Berry and Kevin Porter of 19 shots who claimed the Penrose Funerals sponsored vouchers for the afternoon.
Other teams to win their games were Alan Gall and Les Fanning (1), Len Porrett and Tim Carpenter (2), Michael Webb and Tom Preston (5), Andrew Hutchison and Ian Schofield (7), Grant Fuller and John Cooper (10).
Sunday morning bowls had 14 starters with Barry Close and Bill Standen the winners for the morning with the very good score of 17 points.
The three matches played at Wagga between Zone 8 and Ovens and Murray resulted in two wins for Ovens and Murray and one win for Zone 8.
This is the first time the Victorian side has won the event for more than 10 years.
Following the games the Zone 8 side to play against Australian Capital Territory was selected and congratulations to Damien Miller, Russell Boyd and David Quigley on their selection in this 16–man side.
The matches against Australian Capital Territory will be played at Young on Saturday and Sunday August 12 and 13.
Those players who entered the Minor Pairs are asked to please check the notice board for the draw.
An error was made in the typing of the draw that was on display at the weekend which has now been corrected.
Details of the games in the Club Pairs and Minor Pairs to be played on Saturday afternoon are on the notice board.
Also a reminder that there will be a practice match for the Grade two Pennant side on Sunday afternoon.
Details of the South Western District Annual General Meeting are on the notice board and anyone interested in nominating for positions should ensure their nomination form is completed and delivered.
