Saturday was a perfect day for the June Medals sponsored by Keith Simmons Engineering with a field of 60 players at Young Golf Club.

Peter Campbell played a great game to win A-grade with a nett 69, Paul Blizzard won B-grade with 71 nett and Max Gilbert was the winner of C-grade on 67 nett. The elite scratch winners were Peter Campbell 73, in B-grade Paul Blizzard won with 84 and Max Gilbert won C-grade with 85.
The scratch pennant team played Tumut at Tumut on Sunday and won 3 - 2. Winners were Joel Shields, James French and Nick Bush. Narrowly beaten were Ian Page and Bill Oliver. The handicap team played Gundagai at Harden and won 4-1. Winners were Gavin Marshall, Steve Dewar, Bailley Scott-Miller and Gary Anderson while Paul Blizzard narrowly lost. Many thanks to all our players who have put their hand up to play pennants and both teams are currently going very well.
Next Saturday the event is 4bbb v Par sponsored by James and Christobel French. It is also the local qualifying round for the Keno state fourball event. Entry is $5 per player (payable to Golf NSW). We host that regional final on Sunday July 9 and that given into the mix I would suggest we would have a local advantage.
On Sunday we will have a medley stableford ball sweepstakes and on Monday if we have a decent field of men and ladies we will have the event sponsored by Rick Oliver and Ian Tierney – Anzac Day - single stableford.

At the conclusion of play on Saturday a special presentation was made to Steve Sell who is leaving Young Gofl Club. Club vice-president Steve Dewar congratulated and thanked Steve for his participation and involvement with the club. He has represented the club in pennants, served on the committee in various roles including president and club captain. He was gifted with a framed flag and because he is a tragic supporter of the Parramatta NRL team he was also presented with a kit (Jumper/shorts). Jan Broderick presented him with a very small Parra jersey, most probably about the size Steve may have worn when he was about six-years-old. His great dueling mate Ian Page needed to say a few words to send him on his way and he presented him with a specially designed golf club specifically modified to make bunker shots that much easier. Steve responded and expressed his great love for the golf club and wished it well going forward. It is believed Steve and a few of his mates partied on.
