Clover Leigh honoured the memory of Vera McPake when they held their Vera’s Day three person Ambrose on Saturday. Worthy winners with a nett 58 and a half, were Jasmin Olive and Chris Bale of Bigga partnered with George Gerrard of Clover Leigh. Runners up were Tony Blair and Jason Saunders of Binalong partnered with Mick McDonell of Clover Leigh with 60 and a sixth.

Longest drive to Hannah Craig of Canberra for the women and to Mick for the men. Nearest the pin for women to Jasmin on the twelfth with 102 cm, and to Chris Glover on the eighth with 370 cm. On Sunday, Clover Leigh hosted the second round of the South West Slopes District Golf small clubs pennant competition in conjunction with a single Stableford comp. Winning the stableford for the men was Greg Atkins of Boorowa with 38 points on a countback to runner-up Mick McDonell also on 38 points.
Womens winner was Tania Baldwin of Clover Leigh with 31 points with runner-up to Monica Good of Boorowa on 30 points. Junior winner to Wade Picker of Bigga with 31 points. Longest drive for men to Chris Bale and for women to Tania.
Nearest the pin for the men to Robert Gorham of Boorowa on the seventeenth with 100 cm and for the women to Tania on the fifth with 270 cm. A ball to Mick Paterson of Binalong for a birdie on the ninth and to John Carruthers of Bigga for a birdie on the eighteenth, both being Betty Freck birdie holes.
In the pennant matchplay competition between Boorowa and Bigga, Boorowa won two matches and Bigga one, with two draws. Between Clover Leigh and Binalong, Clover Leighdrew one match and Binalong won four and drew one.
This puts the pennant cumulative score after two rounds as Bigga with 14 points, Boorowa with 12 points, Binalong with nine points and Clover Leigh with five.
The cumulative Stableford totals are Bigga 56, Binalong 34, Boorowa 32 and Clover Leigh 19. Many thanks to all those that helped out with the course preparations during the week and for help with catering on both days, which helped produce a successful weekend of golf in perfect conditions.
