Damien Miller and David Quigley won the semi-final of the club pairs at the Young Bowling Club on Saturday afternoon in very cool and windy conditions.

Miller and Quigley opposed Peter Berry and Joe Hennock. After 12 ends Damien and David led 11–9 and over the next six ends they extended their lead to 20–11. Four shots to Peter and Joe on the nineteenth end closed the gap to five shots but Damien and David ran out winners 25–15. The vouchers for the afternoon were sponsored by Penrose Funerals and they went to Darryle Miller and Vic Brown with a winning margin of 14 shots. Other winning teams were Mark Brownlie and Graeme Edgerton (12 shots), Ian Gailey and Peter Slater (4 shots), Colin Powell and Cliff Traynor (2 shots) and Alan Gall and Russell Boyd (1 shot).
Play on Thursday afternoon attracted a field of 30 players. Albert Carter and John Cooper took out the vouchers when they won their game by 18 shots. Darryle Miller had a resting toucher in the ditch thereby winning a bottle of scotch.
Conditions on Sunday morning improved as the day progressed, 12 players took part including two visitors, Ted Parker and Jeff Summerfield. Don Close and Joe Hennock had the best score for the morning with a total of 15 points.
The Zone 8 Pennant Finals will be played this weekend. Young’s Grade 2 side will play Temora at Cootamundra Ex–Services Club on Saturday afternoon. Good luck to the players representing the club in this event. The Young club will host the finals for Grade 7. There will be two games on Saturday afternoon. Adelong is to play Temora with the winners to play Stockinbingal on Sunday morning and Yenda is to play Henty with the winners opposed to Wagga Rules Club on Sunday morning.
The final will be played on Sunday afternoon.
There will be Jackpot Bowls on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning bowls at the usual time.
