Historic building’s open doors

Many locals know of Iandra ‘Castle’, the historic homestead set on picturesque landscapes just south of Greenthorpe. Last weekend when the local icon opened its doors it broke records with thousands of visitors.

With beautiful weather and the long weekend crowds were estimated to reach 2,000 visitors to the old homestead on Sunday.

Money raised by the Open Days held at Iandra goes towards restoring the piece of local history.

In 2004 Iandra ‘Castle’ received listing status on the New South Wales Heritage Database.

Though the property is privately owned property managers Rod and Bev Kershaw open the house and grounds up several times a year to the public who for a small donation are able to take in all of the splendour and grandeur of a bygone era.
