Students from several Young schools have represented Southern Inland Rugby Union teams at the state championships hosted by Camden Rugby Club and Warringah Rugby Club over the past weekend with some mixed success.

Benedict Bonsembiante and Albie Cavanagh both represented the Southern Inland Rugby Union Under 15s side over the weekend.
The Under 15s side played its games at Narrabeen Reserve and Pittwater Rugby Park over the two days of the competition that was hosted by Warringah Rugby Club.
In round one Southern Inland played Melbourne with the regional side narrowly beating out the Victorian side 10 – 7 at Lake Park on Saturday afternoon.
Round two the Southern Inland side played the ACT Brumbies Under 15s side with Southern Inland losing out to the ACT team 29 – 0 at Lake Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Under 15s played the very tough and competitive side of Eastwood Rugby Club Under 15s on Sunday morning at Lake Park.
The Eastwood side outshone the Southern Inland squad winning with a massive score of 31 – 0.
The Southern Inland Rugby Union Under 12s side which included Young’s Ned Hufton didn’t perform to the fullest of its abilities last Saturday taking when they faced three out of its four games at Moss Vale.
In the Under 12s first round game they faced the tough Randwick side at 8.30 am on field one.
Randwick are known to be a very strategic and put together squad which showed in the final score of 29 – 0.
Despite the score however Southern Inland and Ned played very well and challenged the Randwick team on several occasions.
In the Under 12s second round they faced off against Warringah at 10.30 am on field two.
Southern Inland played hard against the Sydney side, however were outclassed.
The final score was 26 – 5.
The Southern Inland Under 12s side faced off against Penrith in its third round match and were severely outclassed with the final score ending with Penrith winning 44 – 0.
The Under 12s final round was to be played against the Central Coast on Sunday, however due to poor weather the game was cancelled meaning the Southern Inland Rugby Union side didn’t qualify for the finals.
All players did their teams and their home sides proud over the weekend despite the losses they all played hard and did exceedingly well.
