Young and District Netball Association’s Opens Representative squad came in sixth overall last weekend while competing at the State Championships in Baulkham Hills.

“As usual the Opens team played some sensational games of netball,” a statement from Young and District Netball Association said.
At the end of the weekend the Young squad ended up sixth in its division.
The entire weekend included 103 teams, over 1,000 athletes and 32,884 goals according to Netball NSW.
On day one of the competition the Young Opens had wins against Dubbo (17-10), Mt Druitt (16-10), Nelson Bay (17-14) and Tamworth (19-16).
The ladies suffered losses to the undefeated winners of division two Bathurst (31-12) and Cobar (21-20).
During day two of the championships Young played and won against Kurri Kurri (22-21), Glen Innes (28-21), Wollondilly (19-15), Eurobodalla (27-17) and Armidale District (22-12).
Losses on day two were against Macleay (21-20) and Singleton (28-25).
Five games were played on day three of the championships with the ladies winning against Sapphire Coast (15-7) and Nambucca Valley (16-14) and losses were to Quirindi (21-16), Hawkesbury City (27-14) and Ulladulla and Districts (24-19).
The club said the Opens are to be congratulated on the way they played the game and the sportsmanship they showed throughout the weekend.
“It is truly remarkable when we have a team as talented as these ladies compete at the championships and come away with these results,” the statement said.
“There were a few bumps and bruises and a black eye but the team came out of the comp with no major injuries at the end of the 18 games of netball.
“This is a true testament to their commitment and determination to deliver these results for themselves as a team and for their association.
