A 22-year-old man accused of trying to flee the country to join Islamic State will remain in custody for at least eight weeks.

Moudasser Taleb, from Panania in south-west Sydney, did not apply for bail in Central Local Court on Friday and it was formally refused by Magistrate Les Mabbutt due to "the nature of the charges".
His lawyer, Zali Burrows, said he hadn't eaten in two days and she indicated there would be a future bail application.
Mr Taleb was charged on Thursday night with preparing for incursions into foreign countries for purpose of engaging in hostile activities, which has a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
He had been under surveillance by counter-terrorism police since January, when it became apparent that he wanted to travel to Syria.
He had espoused support for the terror group as far back as 2014, commenting on YouTube videos with "ISIS all the way!!" and saving playlists of religious songs about jihad.
However, Fairfax Media reported on Thursday that his views appeared to have hardened in the space of only three weeks.
On Thursday morning, he caught a taxi on his own to Sydney Airport and allegedly intended to buy a one-way ticket to Turkey or Lebanon.
He was arrested by undercover police and was questioned into the evening.
Police allege Mr Taleb, 22, had largely radicalised himself through extensive online communications.
NSW Police deputy commissioner Dave Hudson said they believe he was acting alone.
"There needs to be a certain intent for the person themselves that they go looking for certain information that changes their way of thinking," he said. "People try and source that material themselves rather than being approached."
Just two weeks ago, he was charged with stalking or intimidating his wheelchair-bound mother, who he lives with, and an AVO was implemented for her protection.
He was also charged last October with assaulting a young male relative at home one night.
Detectives removed a computer and several bags of evidence from the Panania home on Thursday.
More than 200 Australians have left to fight for terrorist groups including IS in Syria since civil war broke out in 2012. Hundreds more have been stopped at airports.
Mr Taleb, who appeared in court via video-link wearing black tracksuit pants, a black-shirt and with his arms crossed, was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on August 15.
