With the local side fully kitted and having finalised their pre-game warm-up the game was called off as no players from East’s had turned up.
The president from the East’s Rugby Club was at a loss for words as he had arrived and prepared the jerseys for his side only to be let down by the ‘no show’.
The only upside on the day was that the local side was able to watch the Wallabies v Scotland game but then again this may not have been a positive upside.
Second Grade:
The Yabbies second grade side took on the well drilled Royal Military College from Canberra going down 23-10.
Once again the local side was thrown together on the day and this showed in the first half with poor cohesion and support play allowing RMC to cross for an early try.
The local forward pack were starting to dominate the RMC pack keeping them parked in their 22 m area before the RMC defence broke as Jack Pattinson crashed over for a try following the constant pressure from the pack.
However, it was a case of too little too late and what might have been as the whistle sounded fulltime to see MC run out winners 23-10.
(J Pattinson and R Everdell tries) Best and fairest points went to Jack Todhunter 3, Jock Pattinson 2 and Liam Alderdice 1 whilst player’s player was Pattinson.
