After two weeks off due to a double bye Young was at full strength.
During warm up captain/coach James Woolford psyched up the boys with a talk telling the team to play well, get the win and get out of there.
The Cherrypickers started well with Ray Talimalie putting Hayden Cowled through a hole which lead to Cowled to score a great try which Ray converted leaving the score at 6-0.
Not long after the Kangaroos scored to even the score 6-6 at the ten minute mark.
The next 15 minutes was even with the game moving from end from end before Jack Bush scored a great try from out wide which Talimalie converted from the side line, 12-6.
Young defended their line with the Kangaroos giving their all to find the line.
Some bad readings and a lack of communication between players lead to a line drop out and penalties gave the Roos their second opportunity to score a try near the posts.
The Roos converted making the score 12-12.
With five minutes left Young tried hard to score again but with some bad options the score at half-time was left at 12-all.
In the sheds Woolford was happy with the way the game was progressing but wanted the boys to tighten their play and back to following the original game plan.
Back on the field and both teams started the second-half with errors but Young moved on the Kangaroos line opening up for Woolford to score from dummy-half, which Talimalie converted making the score 18-12.
The Kangaroos tried to get field position but Young’s defence was too good holding their line and preventing the Wagga side from crossing the line.
A kick from Talimalie across field to Jack lead to Bush crossing the line for the second time and put the Roos on the back foot with the score 22-12.
As the half continued the Kangaroos were letting their frustration show giving away penalties.
With 10 minutes to go in the game the Cherrypickers completed sets with tried to Will Scott that was also converted making the score 28-12.
Lockie Jackson used his strength to barge over the line out wide to score making the score 32-12.
Talimalie crossed the line for a well deserved try after he found a gap in the Wagga defence line to score near the posts and converting putting the Pickers well ahead at 38-12.
The Kangaroos frustration lead the Wagga captain/coach Ben Jeffery to the sin bin for talking to the referee in an inappropriate way.
Young ended the game unable to complete three sets leaving the score at 38-12.
Young got the win and the two points however the completions were below par which will need to be addressed at training this week.
Players player – Will Scott (3), James Woolford (2), Ray Talimalie (1).
Tries: Jack Bush (2), Hayden Cowled, James Woolford, Will Scott, Lockie Jackson and Ray Talimalie who also kicked five conversions.
This weekend the boys will have an important game at Alfred Oval against South City. The team hopes to see as many supporters as possible there on Sunday to cheer the Cherrypickers on for all five grades that will be playing on the day.

Reserve Grade
The CMac young reserve grade team headed to Wagga on Sunday to take on the Kangaroos with both teams sitting very even on the table at forth and fifth respectively.
The game started fast, but after only five minutes in the Roos broke through for a try against the run of play that caught Young totally by surprise. This seemed to unsettle the Cherrypickers, and a flow possession as well as some handling errors from Young, saw the Kangaroos race to a 28 to 0 lead in a very one sided first 20 minutes.
Young managed to get a bit of ball in the last 10 minutes and on the back of a solid forward raid, Matt Murray kicked wide to pick up a leaping Bailey Coombes who scored beside the posts. Conversation successful the half time score was 28 - 6.
The second half started pretty much the same as the first with the Roos scoring twice, and with only 15 left in the game, Young found themselves with a huge uphill battle at 36-6.
Jacob Hardy scored out wide after a great run from broken play, but with only a hand full of minutes to play, the game was gone.
A penalty to Kangaroos on the bell saw the final score 38-10.
In a very disappointing result a few players stood out for Young with Zak Slater producing a huge non stop effort in defence, Nick Schiller making several breaks in attack and Jade Cowled, just returning from injury, giving his all.
The road from here doesn't get any easier, and after the weekends result, a big shift in attitude is needed if the Reserve grade side is to be considered a serious contender.

The weekends game against the Kangaroos was a long time coming, this was the first time for the season that they team worked as a team. The ball movement and defence was incredible, great intensity around hitting the ball up and hungry to win. The weekend saw the structure of the team change a bit, but change was great for the girls it worked and it worked well. Ally Smith started the team off in the first few minutes with a 80m try - straight away this got the girls fired up and ready to work hard. The final score 30-12, their points come from simple mistakes that the girls can work on this weekend against South City. Try scorers Ash Carroll x3, Ally Smith, Laura Eastlake and Kristy Brown. Conversions Laura Eastlake x2 and Kristy Brown x1. Players player was close on four accounts, Elevations Resturants players player was Kristy Brown. This weekend, South City has some great runners so the girls will need to shut them down early to ensure that they do not let them get momentum. It will be a great game and certainly close.
