Under 8s
Young vs Leeton – 55-15
Despite a chilly and grey start to the morning, the mighty Under 8s rustled up their talents and started off the day with a bang with a huge 55-15 win against Leeton.
James Rowntree played out of his skin making breaks across the advantage line left right and centre and damaging the opposition’s attack with great defence backed up by his team mates Noah Lewin and Sam Newell.
Will Stoney was once again instrumental in his running efforts scoring a blinding try in the corner just on half-time putting the boys even further in front.
Max Schilt used his leg power to stomp through defence to score several great tries with assistance from straight forward running by Henry Hewson.
This was a fabulous game of rugby which the boys all had a taste in some victory on the try scoring sheet.
Young vs Albury – 45-15
The boys backed up against a never-before- played team of Albury, who fronted with some size on the other side of halfway.
This did not deter our Under 8s sealing another convincing 45-15 win.
Despite a sprained finger, Hugo Davidson showed no mercy in defence making some unreal tackles pulling up Albury in their tracks.
Oscar McCann was hot footed on sideline, sneaking in several tries with some forward-thinking play.
Another stellar performance from Jack Dowling who showed some clever plays put the boys well in front.
Darcy Woodward took “cleaning out” to the next level showing terrific support at the ruck.
Fantastic team work with passing and support at the breakdown provided the sideline attendance with a great day of rugby to watch.
Coaches Em, Charlie and Will were super impressed once again – West Wyalong here we come!

Under 10s White
Wagga was a tough day out for the Under 10s Whites.
Young White vs West Wyalong – 40-40
First game was against a fast West Wyalong team who managed to get on the outside of us a number of times.
Only playing eight on the field did not help the structure we are used to playing with.
After being down for most of the game, the boys finished strongly to end the game with a 40 all draw.
There was some good straight running from Charlie Webber, hard work in the forwards by Callum Holt, Sam Scott and Ethan Miller.
Riley Noakes played well at half-back and scored a good try down the blind side.
Oli Burgess had another strong game and Jackson Riley found some space at times.
Young vs Griffith – 10-20
The second game was against a tough Griffith side who had some size and speed.
It was a really hard-fought contest with Griffith the eventual winners 20 – 10.
There was some good hard straight running and defence from Will Bryant and Jesse Jewitt and Drew Edwards continues to be outstanding in all facets of the game.
The fleet footed Oscar Taylor showed his class until suffering a bad injury.
The second half saw some outstanding defence from Liam Miller.
Well done again to the boys and we will get stuck in again this week at West Wyalong.

Under 10s Green
Young Green vs Griffith White – 90-5
On a great Sunday morning, the Under 10s Green were in scintillating form as they took on Griffith White.
Griffith over committed at the breakdown and Young took full advantage with quick ball movement as they dominated in all areas.
Dean Starling was strong as ever and always in the thick of the action, well backed up by Max Shea.
Sam Schilt capped off a great weekend scoring four tries, Riley Butcher with some ferocious tackling scored a hat trick of tries while doubles went to Josh Cameron, Billy Brown and Toby Dowling.
Lucas Maloney, Nick Canellis, Trent Shean, Billy Davis and Nate Reid all crossed as well. Young running out 90-5 winners.
Young Green vs Cootamundra – 30-30
Young’s second game was against the undefeated Cootamundra side and this was a classic.
Young were pumped and right from the kick off Nate Reid picked up the bouncing ball and ran straight down the sideline to get Young off to a dream start.
Shortly after Sam Schilt scooted down the opposite side to score, quickly followed by Toby Dowling and Nate Reid for his second.
Play settled down after this but Young continued to apply pressure through solid defence and quick ball movement earning Riley Butcher a try to take a handy 25-5 lead at the break.
Young started well again with a very determined try to Josh Cameron and Young led 30-5 but could they maintain this intensity?
Young pressed the Coota line time after time but couldn’t score.
This was the turning point as Coota put on two quick tries and soon it was game on.
Young led 30-15 with seven minutes to go but the game had turned.
Coota scored their third try after the siren to tie it up.
Great game by all as we improve each week.
Gutsy effort boys! Just remember “Patience.”

Under 12s
Young vs Wagga
The boys faced a much improved Wagga team in a tough hard fought match.
The Yabbies started strongly and showed excellent structure to their game.
They did the basics well and put the Wagga team under pressure to score the first try with some good rucking and mauling from the forwards.
Wagga hit back quickly with a try early in the second half, from a quick tap which caught the boys napping.
However they recovered well, passed the ball out wide, and secured the win with another good team try.
Young vs Leeton
With some experienced players unavailable for this game, the Under 12s Yabbies had to step up and take on a big strong Leeton team.
The boys tried hard but were unable to play with the same structure as game one.
Poor defence and tackling let the bigger Leeton team run away with the game.
It was a good lesson for the Yabbies, and the boys never gave up and will learn from the experience with the younger players making the decisions and leading from the front.
It will serve them well heading into the second half if the season.

Under 14s
Round 5 was always going to tough for the Under 14’s as they faced two strong and well drilled teams in Griffith and Tumut who are the top of the table.
The boys had a hard day on the paddock but showed true grit and fought to the very end of both games.
The team who were down a number of their regular players this week due to various other commitments.
Thanks to the golden oldies of Oscar Nutall, Matt Carnellis, and Max Kirkwood.
Young vs Griffith – 40-12
The first game saw the team faced a much bigger opposition in Griffith who are top of the table with no losses for the season which unfortunately was not to change after this game.
The team seemed to be a little intimidated by the Griffith boys.
It looked like we would have no subs for this game, but Sam Smith made a grand entrance by turning up late, better late than never.
Griffith made two quick tries in a matter of minutes to open the scoring the boys over their shell shock and warming up after a cold start did some brilliant tackling and tried hard.
Harry Nuthall had a good game and shone in the line outs with some beautiful ballet poses in the air.
Harry had a few knock downs which helped the defence of Young.
Cooper Cross and ring-in Matt Carnellis applied some great pressure throughout the game.
Max Kirkwood also home for holidays had a great run to try and find the try line.
The front line of Seb Hartman, John Cass, Jacob Maslin, Justin Garlick, Kade Wilder and Chris McDonald tried hard to push over and turn over possession to Young.
Well done to the front row who are combining well.
The backline not to be outdone by the forwards put in a great effort as well.
Voilet Cavangh chased down a number of players to stop Griffith from scoring.
The old work horse Oscar Nuthall played brilliant and lead the boys in defence.
Jack Kennett and Marty McGrath both showed grit to run down and make a number of breaks in the second half.
Charlie Sullivan was the first player to draw blood for Young to put the team on the board.
Matt Carnellis moments later from the kick off at half-time ran down the sideline, grub kicked the ball and the picked up the ball and score in the corner.
The final score for the game was 40-12.
This by no way reflected the game which was very hard fought for both sides.
Players point went to Cooper Cross 3, Marty McGrath 2 and Chris McDonald 1.
Young vs Tumut
Coming off a hard game the team then faced a very well drilled and discipline team in Tumut.
In their previous meeting the Tumut team run away with the win and today was going to be no different.
Unfortunately, the team faced some very tough opposition with Tumut scoring a number of tries in quick succession to take a commanding lead which did not change throughout the game.
The team was out gunned on the day with Tumut taking the win.
There were glimpses of brilliance from the team but they were just too few and far between.
Players points went to Harry Nuthall 3, Marty McGrath 2, and Cooper Cross 1.

VIVA Under 10s White
Young White vs Grenfell
The Whites were short a few reserves this week and came up against Grenfell, who had some familiar faces from the Yabbies Greens filling in.
The Grenfell side took an early lead but it was Pippa Hufton who struck back for the Whites scoring a long range try out running the defence.
The Grenfell side took it to the Whites and there were strong runs from Ella Eastwood, some quick clean out of the ruck by Anastasia Stratford and robust defence by Phoebe Shannon.
The girls pushed Grenfell and made them earn their points, but in the end the Grenfell side ran away with the game outscoring the Whites 6 tries to 1.
Young White vs Griffith
After a rest and a bite to eat, the Whites met Griffith in the second match for the day and it was Griffith who struck early scoring the first couple of tries to take an early lead.
The Whites kept pushing back though with Arabella Hufton and Zoe Lane chasing everything that moved making the Griffith side earn their points.
Hunta McCann got the Whites on the board catching the Griffith side napping to score a try and get the Whites back into the game.
It was Zoe Lane who tried to lead Young out of trouble with some positive talk, revving her team mates up along with some good runs from deep in the Whites half.
Whatever Zoe said inspired her team mates because Lucy Turner grabbed the ball and took off, drifting across field turning the opposition, and herself, in circles.
Unfortunately, Young couldn’t bridge the gap and the Griffith team finished off getting the win 4-1.
