Police and Highway Patrol around Young have had a busy weekend around the area with two car accidents and a police pursuit.

Head on crash driver and passenger flee the scene
ABOUT 9.05 am on Saturday July 15 a red Nissan Pathfinder was overtaking a truck on the Henry Lawson Highway at McHenry’s Bridge in heavy fog when it collided head on with a green Hyundai Tuscon traveling in the opposite direction.
The driver and passenger of the Nissan Pathfinder left the scene of the accident prior to the arrival of police.
The road was blocked until 10.45 am.
Police seized the Red Nissan for forensic testing and spoke to witnesses at the scene.
According to police they are chasing up the driver whom they haven’t spoken to as yet.

Single vehicle accident
AT ABOUT 10.45 pm on Saturday July 15 there was a single vehicle accident along the Olympic Highway, about 500 m from the Tierney Street intersection.
A 17-year-old male crossed over to the wrong side of the road and collided with a tree.
The driver suffered minor injuries to his right foot and was taken to Young District Hospital. A blood sample was taken for testing but police do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the cause of the accident.
Police pursue grey Isuzu ute
AT 10.45 pm on Saturday police were patrolling the Olympic Highway south of Young when they saw a grey Isuzu utility travelling at speed in a northerly direction.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle and initiated a pursuit after the vehicle failed to stop. The pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later police were notified of an accident where a car had collided with a fence on Boundary Road, Young.
On Sunday morning police were notified the vehicle had been located along Forbutt’s Lane. The vehicle was seized by police for forensic testing.
Police are awaiting results from the forensic testing.
