A 53-year-old Young man will not be eligible for release from prison until March next year after he was convicted for a break and enter on June 23.

Charles Edward Carson appeared via audio-visual link in Young Local Court last week after he was refused bail for the break and enter of a Young property on June 23 that resulted in him being found dragging stolen items in a blanket along Demondrille Street, only around 150 meters from the scene of the crime.
“Mr Carson this offence of breaking and entering carries a sentence of 14 years in prison, however the jurisdiction in local court is two years,” Mr O’Brien said.
“You have been known to community corrections for a very very long period of time, the history of your offending goes back to 1974.
“I have to say without any fear of hesitation that you have the longest history of re-offending of any person who has appeared before me, it’s astounding.”
Mr O’Brien convicted Carson on all charges and sentenced him to a total of 22 months behind bars.
On the morning of June 23 Carson entered a Campbell Street residence by forcing the door open before he wandered around the property ensuring no one was home.
Carson then picked up a number of items including a Playstation 3, DVD player, DVDs, towels, clothing and a number of blankets.
Carson then wrapped all of the items into the blanket and left the house.
A television was also moved from the TV unit and left on the ground on the front veranda.
Police were attending Demondrille Street on a separate matter when they noticed Carson on the opposite side of the road with a large amount of property which consisted of a Playstation 3, Laser DVD player, numerous DVDs, two music box sets, two candles, two blankets, a doona, two pairs of men’s underwear, track suit pants and two video games.
Police said at the time Carson was trying to place the property into one of the blankets to be able to drag the items along the roadway.
Police received a phone call from the occupant of the residence broken into and discovered the stolen items were an exact match to the property located with Carson she also informed police a packet of cigarettes was located on the front veranda.
