- Police facts
The 42-year-old was convicted and sentenced for the offences by Magistrate Michael O’Brien after he was discovered with 0.3 grams of ice powder, 0.67 grams of ice crystals and 0.79 grams of cannabis on the side of the road near Boorowa.
Henderson plead guilty to the charges on July 7, 2017 in Young Local Court.
According to police facts tendered to the court Henderson was located sitting in his Landcruiser station wagon with a horse float attached along Little Plains Road, Frogmore via Boorowa about 1 am on June 4, 2017.
Police originally pulled over to check if Henderson was all right. He was found to be the only person in the vehicle and initially indicated he had pulled over to phone his wife but during the subsequent conversation with police they suspected he or the vehicle may contain illegal drugs.
After police advised Henderson that they intended to search the vehicle he told them there was some ‘gear’ in the front pocket of the seat cover on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
Police found a red coloured glasses case which contained a glass pipe, small plastic spoon, several small resealable bags which were empty, a small resealable bag containing white powder, a small resealable bag containing white crystal and another small resealable bag containing green vegetable matter.
While speaking with police Henderson admitted the bags contained ice and cannabis and police found no other items on the defendant or in the vehicle.
The drugs were seized and taken to Young Police Station where they were entered into a drug bag.
Ice is the common or street name for Methamphetamine which is an illegal/prohibited drug, as is cannabis.
