The Pyjama Foundation gives children in foster care the opportunity to change the direction of their lives with learning, life skills, and confidence.
Mercy Place Mount St Joseph’s service manager Anne Dawes said staff decided a bit of a dress up and some fun was the best way to raise awareness to the plight of foster children in Australia.
"While dressing in PJs seems all light-hearted and fun the alarming statistics provided by the Pyjama Foundation had highlighted poor literacy and numeracy levels of children in care, and how this can contribute to a lifetime of disadvantage," she said.
"Awareness for this foundation by local members of the Young community, particularly Mercy Place Mount St Joseph’s, aims to curb this statistic and change these outcomes by supporting learning based activities in a safe and supportive environment for these children."
