Shannon qualified for the New South Wales state championships last month before the level six gymnast traveled to the Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic centre in Sydney.
Shannon competed against 160 gymnasts from all across the state in a tough and highly competitive event.
“Shannon performed well,” Robertson’s Gymnastics Michelle Robertson said.
According to Michelle Shannon improved on all of her scores from previous competitions.
Shannon’s coach Michael Robertson was particularly pleased with her effot on the day and especially so with her 9.025 on the beam.
“She also completed her tucked salto flyaway dismount on bars which is a skill she has just mastered,” Michelle said.
On top of her amazing performance and score on the beam and bars Shannon also performed well on the vault and floor with scores of 8.95 and 8.925 respectively to cement her place as an all round gymnast.
It was a busy week for Shannon who also represented Riverina at the Catholic High School State Gymnastics Championships on the Wednesday where she ended up ranked 16th in the state.
Shannon’s next challenge will be when she attends the Central West Regional Championships in Orange in October.
“We are always proud of Shannon as a gymnast she shows great commitment to her sport and has been training four times a week in preparation for these competitions,” Michael said.
Despite having an increased school workload Shannon continues to go from strength to strength.
“She is a great role model to the younger gymnasts, persisting until she achieves new skills."
