MLHD’s Clinical Leader Oral Health Promotion Angela Rankin said everybody should be reminded about the importance of good oral health and how they can easily build healthy habits into their daily life without feeling overwhelmed, by following three easy steps:
- Brush twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste.
- Use floss at least once a day.
- Eat healthy and have less sugary drinks and food.
Three teeth friendly habits to help reduce the risk of tooth decay are:
- Have three regular meals rather than snacking. Include your sugary treats in your meal rather than as a snack
- Chew sugar free gum after meals
- Have regular check-ups with your dentist. Make sure you visit your dentist at least once a year. They can teach you the correct tooth brushing and flossing techniques as well as provide information about other tools to help decrease your risk of decay and gum disease.
