Actress Nicole Kidman will be reunited with her 1997 Academy Awards dress when she attends the NGV International's black-tie Dior gala on Saturday night.

Kidman was only confirmed as a guest at the 400-person sit-down dinner late on Saturday afternoon, ending weeks of speculation she would make an appearance.
The gala is being held to raise funds for the fashion department at the gallery, which is staging the House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture exhibition to celebrate seven decades of the pioneering fashion house.
Kidman wore the chartreuse gown, by then Dior creative director John Galliano, to the Oscars when she was still married to actor Tom Cruise. The dress has been named as one of the greatest Oscars gowns of all time and made Kidman into a style icon.
More than 140 pieces, including Miranda Kerr's wedding dress designed by current creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, feature in the exhibition, one of three being held worldwide to mark the anniversary.
Other guests at the black-tie event include Canadian model Winnie Harlow, actress Elizabeth Olsen and a host of Australian celebrities, including Rachel Griffiths and Asher Keddie.
Kidman is currently starring in the critically-acclaimed Top of the Lake: China Girl opposite Mad Men's Elizabeth Moss.
The inaugural gala is set to become an annual event at the gallery.
The $500-a-ticket event will include several installation spaces and food by renowned Australian chef, Hong Kong-based James Henry.
Kidman celebrated her 50th birthday in June and is married to fellow Australian country music star Keith Urban.
In Australia recently for the premiere of Top of the Lake, which was shot in Sydney, Kidman said she was determined to use her Australian accent more in the parts she plays on screen.
A second series of the hit show Big Little Lies, based on the book by Australian Liane Moriarty, is also in the early stages of production.
Kidman has a long history of wearing Dior on the red carpet. At this year's Cannes Film Festival, Kidman wore a Dior dress that took hundreds of hours to make.
The exhibition opens to the public on Sunday.
House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture is at NGV International until November 7.
